Our bi-monthly FREE virtual tasting series!

Thirsty Thursday will happen on the first Thursday of every other month and will be hosted by proprietor Sheldon Richards, his son Caston, and typically a special guest host. Sheldon is a second-generation Paloma winemaker who loves to share a good story any chance he gets and Caston is eager to learn and excited to get his feet wet! Every two months, we will introduce a new topic and/or a guest host who will be joining them for this hour-long interactive experience.

This installment of Thirsty Thursday is all about getting back to our roots–pun intended! Joining us will be Felix Egerer, a viticulture and soil expert. Barbara always reminded us "you make great wine by growing great grapes" and it definitely worked for her. As of late, we've found ourselves talking more and more about the importance of good land practices. Whether it's to farm great grapes, protect ourselves against mother nature, or minimize our environmental impact, we have a responsibility to properly manage the land we are using.

To do this effectively, we decided to seek out guidance and expertise in the areas we wanted to focus our energy (soil health and viticulture management), which led us to hire Felix. Felix brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from around the world. He has a degree in Viticulture and Enology from Geisenheim University and UC Davis; he has worked in the winery and in the vineyard all over the world—Oregon, California, Burgundy, Australia, and British Colombia (where he currently is the vineyard manager for Tantalus Vineyards); and he is a certified agroecology coach through Nicole Masters and Integrity Soils. On the side, Felix coaches and consults for vineyards around the world to help them better understand how they can use science to improve their soil health, which leads to healthier vegetation, tastier grapes, and better yields! Felix is excited to join us and share some of his insights.

If you are interested in joining us for this event, please email Caston (caston@palomavineyard.com) to be added to the invite list!
