Our bi-monthly FREE virtual tasting series!

Thirsty Thursday will happen on the first Thursday of every other month and will be hosted by proprietor Sheldon Richards, his son Caston, and typically a special guest host. Sheldon is a second-generation Paloma winemaker who loves to share a good story any chance he gets and Caston is eager to learn and excited to get his feet wet! Every two months, we will introduce a new topic and/or a guest host who will be joining them for this hour-long interactive experience.

For this 3rd installment of Thirsty Thursday, we are very excited to be joined by our neighbor and Napa native, Sam Baxter. Sam is the vineyard manager, winemaker, and owner of the Terra Valentine. This Thursday is going to focus on harvest: in the vineyard and in the winery. We'll talk with Sam and Sheldon about the ups and downs of this time of year. It is both an exciting and stressful time, and they both have plenty of knowledge and stories to share.

Because of the late notice, we will not be focusing on any particular vintage of either Terra Valentine or Paloma, but rather enjoying whatever vintage you have in your cellar of one or both of these two amazing winemakers.

If you are interested in joining us for this event, please email Caston (caston@palomavineyard.com) to be added to the invite list!

Sam Baxter

Sam was born right here in Saint Helena where he started his wine-making journey under the watchful eyes of his father, Phil Baxter, also a local winemaker. Before officially taking a winemaking role under his father, Sam studied Viticulture and Oenology at UC Davis. After finishing his degree, he traveled to Australia where he spent a season in the Pyrenees region of Victoria before returning to his roots.

In 1999, Sam joined his father and the Wurtele family at Terra Valentine, assisting with all aspects of the vineyard and winery. Not long after, in 20XX, Sam became the general manager and winemaker for Terra Valentine. Since then, Sam has gone on to purchase the Terra Valentine brand from the Wurteles and joined us just across the fence at the top of Spring Mountain where he purchased the 1XX acres of raw Sonoma County land that wraps around Paloma Vineyard.
